Mr. David Roodvoets Receives Marty Hastings Award

Oakland, CA, USA – July 2, 2013

The Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) is pleased to announce Mr. David Roodvoets of DLR Consultants as the second recipient of the Marty Hastings Award. Mr. Roodvoets accepted the award at the CRRC’s annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, June 13, 2013.

Over the past ten years, Mr. Roodvoets has been a dedicated advocate of the CRRC. From 2003 to 2008 he served on the Board of Directors, in addition to serving on the Technical Committee and various working groups. CRRC members cite his wealth of knowledge, his strong voice, and his fair and balanced opinions as invaluable contributions to the organization. As part of the award, the CRRC makes a donation in the recipient’s name to a charitable organization of his choice. Mr. Roodvoets selected The Conservation Fund (http://www.conservationfund.org/), an organization that has protected over seven million acres of historic, environmental, and culturally significant spaces across the country .

In 2011, the CRRC Board of Directors created the Marty Hastings Award in honor of this longtime Board member, Treasurer, and Technical Committee member who passed away in 2011. Mr. Hastings contributed greatly to the CRRC and is fondly remembered for his upbeat attitude, enthusiasm, and sense of humor. To commemorate Mr. Hastings’ contributions to the organization, the CRRC created an annual award for a volunteer who has made outstanding contributions to the CRRC. Nominations for the award are solicited from the CRRC membership, and the recipient is selected by a Board-appointed committee. The award includes a donation of $500 made in the name of the recipient to a charitable organization of his/her choice, as well as complimentary Membership Meeting registration and travel costs.

The CRRC is a non-profit educational organization formed in 1998 to develop accurate, credible methods for evaluating and labeling the radiative properties of roofing products, and to disseminate the information to all interested parties.
