Mr. Gregory Crawford Receives First Annual Marty Hastings Award

Oakland, CA, USA – July 3, 2012

The Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) is pleased to announce Mr. Gregory Crawford of the American Iron and Steel Institute as the first recipient of the Marty Hastings Award. Mr. Crawford was presented with the award at the CRRC’s annual Membership Meeting on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mr. Crawford has been an invaluable asset to the CRRC, contributing his time and expertise to the Board of Directors and Technical Committee in addition to performing the role of Board Secretary from June 2006 to June 2012. As the award recipient, Mr. Crawford selected Disabled Sports USA Far West (http://www.dsusafw.org/) to receive a charitable donation made by the CRRC in his name.

In 2011, the CRRC Board of Directors created the Marty Hastings Award in honor of this longtime Board member, Treasurer, and Technical Committee member. Mr. Hastings contributed greatly to the CRRC and is fondly remembered for his upbeat attitude, enthusiasm, and sense of humor. To commemorate Mr. Hastings’ contributions to the organization, the CRRC created an annual award for a volunteer who has made outstanding contributions to the CRRC. Nominations for the award are solicited in tandem with the annual Board of Directors elections process. A Board-appointed committee reviews the nominees and selects the recipient who is later recognized at the annual Membership Meeting. The award includes a donation of $500 made in the name of the recipient to a charitable organization of his/her choice, as well as complimentary meeting registration and travel costs.

The CRRC is a non-profit educational organization formed in 1998 to develop accurate and credible methods for evaluating and labeling the solar reflectance and thermal emittance of roofing products and to disseminate the information to all interested parties.
