CRRC Launches Online Rating Portal for Roofing Products

PORTLAND, OR, USA — April 24, 2018

The Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) announces the release of the much-anticipated Online Rating Portal (Portal). The Portal is the latest milestone reached by the CRRC in the effort to modernize and enhance its services to roofing product manufacturers and sellers (Licensees) that participate in the CRRC’s Product Rating Program.

The Portal improves the product rating application process by making it easier, faster, and more transparent, all without increasing fees to Licensees. No longer are paper applications required, which eliminates the need to fill out multiple pages with the same information. The potential for errors is also reduced due to the Portal’s robust built-in validation that automatically catches mistakes, thereby helping to save time in processing applications.

“The Online Rating Portal represents a huge step forward for the organization and is the realization of one of the CRRC's strategic goals to improve its core services,” said Rick Olson, CRRC Chairman, “the Board of Directors is pleased with the finalization of this project.”

The Portal also gives Licensees more control during the process since application data and information can be viewed and managed at any time. "I believe the new Portal is going to provide a strong benefit to the roofing industry, as it will simplify the rating process and make manufacturers alike,” said George Daisey, CRRC Vice Chairman.

Another feature of the Portal is that it is directly linked to the CRRC’s online Rated Products Directory (Directory). This means that once an application is approved by CRRC staff, the product ratings appear on the Directory in real time. Since the launch of the Product Rating Program in 2002, nearly 4,000 roofing products have been rated by the CRRC. The online Directory can be accessed on the CRRC’s website at http://coolroofs.org/products/results.

The CRRC plans to roll out more Portal features in the future that will continue to enhance the system and product rating process. “The initial release of the Portal is going to make the product rating process much easier for Licensees and staff. We're also excited about the potential for additional features in the future to further streamline the CRRC program using this software as a platform," stated Jeff Steuben, CRRC Executive Director.
