Oakland, CA, USA – January 30, 2012
The Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) is pleased to announce its accreditation as an ISO/IEC Guide 65 organization. This accreditation marks the final requirement for the CRRC in satisfying the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) requirements for ENERGY STAR® Certification Bodies. This accreditation continues the evolution of the CRRC as a leading cool roof educational resource and rating program (both as a third party, independent entity and ENERGY STAR Certification Body) to the greater roofing community.
ISO/IEC Guide 65 is an international accreditation indicating an organization’s ability to operate a product certification system. The accreditation process included a thorough review of the CRRC’s ability to maintain a Quality Management System as a certification body for roofing products. The technical aptitude, program management and quality assurance procedures of the CRRC and Evaluation Services CRRC (ES-CRRC) programs were just a few of the areas assessed.
ES-CRRC has been an EPA-recognized certification body since the EPA’s adoption of the third-party certification system in January, 2011. As a Certification Body, ES-CRRC offers the same unparalleled customer service and lab relations as the CRRC Product Rating Program, but to manufacturers seeking ENERGY STAR certification. The unique role as both a third-party rating program and ENERGY STAR Certification Body also allows the CRRC to offer reduced rates to manufacturers who choose to list products in both programs.
The CRRC is excited to announce its achievement as an ISO/IEC Guide 65 accredited organization. This marks the CRRC’s growth and development into one of the top resources for cool roof education and services.
The CRRC is a non-profit educational organization formed in 1998 to develop accurate and credible methods for evaluating and labeling the solar reflectance and thermal emittance of roofing products and to disseminate the information to all interested parties.
