MEMBER NAME: National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA)

Why did your organization become a CRRC member?

NRCA has been involved with the CRRC since 1998. NRCA attended the CRRC's original organizational meeting and participated in setting up its committees. It was important for the roofing industry to have an independent roofing-focused organization like the CRRC and for roofing contractors be involved in its mission from the start. That's why NRCA became a member.

How has CRRC membership been of value to you / your organization?

NRCA sees value in exchange of information using the CRRC as a forum, representing the vote of roofing professionals when electing CRRC directors and in the CRRC continuing its mission. Roofing contractors install reflective roof covering materials and need to be confident the products meet established levels of performance. The CRRC provides a recognized means for reporting and labeling radiative properties roofing contractors can rely on.

Describe what you / your organization provides to your industry/sector:

NRCA is one of the construction industry's most respected trade associations and the voice of roofing professionals and leading authority in the roofing industry for information, education, technology and advocacy. It represents all segments of the roofing industry, including contractors; manufacturers; distributors; architects; consultants; engineers; building owners; and city, state and government agencies. NRCA:

  • provides active advocacy for its members with federal and state government, code bodies, insurers, regulatory agencies and others
  • promotes its members benevolence, successes and professionalism through various communication vehicles
  • provides or is developing training and certification programs for roofing field workers, foremen, future leaders, executives and other professionals
  • seeks to grow its membership in an inclusive manner that reflects the diverse nature of the entire industry
  • seeks to provide the most comprehensive safety training available in the roofing industry
  • promotes high-quality roof system design and installations
  • provides technical support to the entire roofing industry through advocacy, training and research

What is the most encouraging thing you see for the future of your industry/sector?

NRCA is excited at the prospect of the entire roofing industry uniting in addressing its most critical issues and concerns to secure its future. NRCA believes the roofing industry has matured to the point where the views and concerns of contractors, manufacturers, distributors, consultants and all industry professionals align with the vast majority of issues they face. We are encouraged by the industry's enthusiastic response to NRCA's One Voice initiative that seeks to accomplish the industry's pressing goals.

NRCA has produced a podcast, the Stories of an Extraordinary Industry. It is meant to enlighten, educate and inspire. From the roof system installers to the manufacturers and everyone in between, the roofing industry is made of incredibly talented people. This is where we tell their stories.
