CRRC Standards Development

The CRRC has recently been accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as an Accredited Standards Developer and is now launching a review of the CRRC-1 Standard. Once a public review and consensus body approval of the standard are complete, the CRRC will submit the CRRC-1 Standard to ANSI to become an American National Standard.

Current Status

Public Comment Period - October 13- December 9, 2008:

The proposed standard is available for download here and open to public comment until December 9, 2008.

All members of the public have the opportunity to comment on the proposal. Comments must be submitted to CRRC staff in writing (either by email or letter) and received by the end of the designated public comment period in order to be considered. Comments must sent on the Public Comment Form.

Consensus Review - October 13, 2008:

Members of the Consensus Body have received a copy of the standard with the proposed revisions clearly marked and a written description of the proposed changes and any other relevant information.

Consensus Body Conference Call - October 27, 2008:

CRRC staff will arrange a meeting by conference call for the Members of the Consensus Body to ask clarifying questions. After this meeting, Members shall have thirty (30) calendar days to return their ballot.

Background Information

What is the CRRC-1 Standard?

The CRRC-1 Standard is a standard for the measurement of initial and aged solar reflectance and thermal emittance of roofing products. It is the portion of the CRRC’s Program Manual that describes sample preparation and testing procedures.

What is ANSI?

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a distinguished non-profit organization that coordinates the development of voluntary consensus standards through its Essential Requirements, which require the process for standards development to be fair, open, and balanced.

The CRRC become an Accredited Standards Developer and is undergoing consensus review of its standard as part of the organization’s commitment to have a fair and open process for standards development. \
